This exhibition is a creative development and presentation project, bringing together the visual arts practices of artists Veronica Zeil and Nanette Balchin.
Through interactive and immersive artworks of sculptural installations, moving image pieces and soundscapes, the audience is encouraged to transform, physically and conceptually, into nature-culture hybrids.
The artworks present concepts of shared existence and self-awareness and aims to encourage the audience to think about their position in the world and how they can be empathetic to one another and other living beings that co-inhabit the planet.
Exhibition location: Upstairs Gallery 4 Gatakers Artspace
About the artists
Veronika Zeil was born in Germany and emigrated to Australia in 1990. As a primary self-taught artist she has created paintings, drawings, sculptures, and mosaics for most of her life.
Nanette is inspired to create a conversation with the viewer through interactive artworks and installations and combines media such as paint, inks, dyes and drawing media with cloth, papers and stitch to create "curious" visually rich collaged surfaces, books, boxes or assemblages.
This exhibition will officially open on Friday 12 January, 2024.
This is a free event, however registration is required.
