Keith and Sandra respond to memories and experiences through mark - making and imaginative drawing using different media; ink, pastel, watercolour and felt pen.

Keith and Sandra share a studio. It’s a beautiful space surrounded by a very inspiring lush green garden with lots of windows to ponder and dream. One of them is a lovely circular shape.
They share time together travelling and drawing in situ in small sketchbooks quietly observing and listening closely. Sketches are immediate, responsive, and sometimes used as a springboard for other works in the studio.
By drawing together, they share memories of places they have been, whether that be walking on the beach collecting driftwood, an overseas adventure or chatting in a local café.

Keith includes human made elements in his mixed media drawings to suggest that human intervention has changed the natural environment over time. His work is imaginative and playful.
Sandra uses natural form as a metaphor to investigate memories of personal loss. Her drawings are suggestive of an inner landscape and contain motifs of leaves, sticks and rocks.

In the spirit of reusing fragments of older work, each artist has created small artist books, by cutting, gluing, and rearranging. The imagery contained in them holds true to the narrative of natural form.
Keith and Sandra have collaborated on several pieces in the exhibition. Each would begin with a simple watery wash or monoprint, then pass it to each other until they felt resolution.
During this process they inspire, motivate, challenge, and encourage, while leaving each other space for consideration and conversation.

Keith and Sandra’s intimate landscapes resonate feelings of solace in their daily experiences, togetherness with family and place, and contemplation of mortality. Each artist turns to art as a space to consider their existence and the effects of the passage of time.
