Cyanotype Printmaking Workshop
In this hands-on workshop, participants will discover the creative possibilities of cyanotype printmaking.
Through experimentation with a variety of base materials, found objects, and personal imagery, you'll learn how to create unique and expressive prints.
Some prepared papers and cloth will be provided to begin the process and there will also be time to prepare your own. The workshop is a busy one where you will be working both inside and outside to complete your work. Lots of sharing and discussion will also be part of the experience.
The workshop is suitable to beginners as well as those with some experience in art making processes.
When: Saturday 23 August | 10am – 2pm
Where: Gatakers Print Studio, 311 Kent Street Maryborough Qld
Cost: $65; Registration required.
What to bring:
- Any images you'd like to use. If you're using photographs or magazine images, you'll need to create a negative and print it onto overhead transparency (OHT) sheets. Make two copies of each image to layer for better light blocking. You can also draw directly on OHT sheets using black ink or chinagraph pencils.
- Other materials like botanicals, feathers, threads, or lace work well—finer, more translucent items will reveal inner detail and variations in blue. Avoid bulky or dense items, as they won’t produce clear prints.
- Lightweight papers and fabrics such as muslin, cheesecloth, tissue, or rice paper are great options. A selection of materials will also be available at the workshop.
- BYO Lunch
- Covered shoes are a must
