The Studio: Valerie McIntosh
This exhibition showcases a wide selection of works uncovered in the studio of the late Valerie McIntosh.....Artist, Educator and Train Driver.
Valerie McIntosh, or "Val" as she was known as by many, was a prolific artist and contributed enormously to arts and culture on the Fraser Coast.
Well known as a key member of the Maryborough Printmakers, Val was also an active and enthusiastic participant in all sorts of creative and cultural activities...whether it be the Urban Sketchers Maryborough, Life Drawing group, Scottish country dancing, conversational French classes or driving the famous Mary Ann train.
Val's studio, the old Forester's Hall on Richmond Street, was filled to the brim with works in various mediums and varying stages of completion. This exhibition provides an opportunity to view the remaining pieces left in her studio and get an insight into the diversity of her artistic practice. Most pieces are for sale, with proceeds going to Val's favourite charitable group, the Maryborough Animal Refuge.
To take a glimpse inside Val's studio you can watch this digital story featured in the State Library of Queensland exhibition - "Five senses: sharing excellence in practice" held in 2009.
