About the artist
Step into the world of Peter Hughes, Brisbane based self-taught artist whose friendly and gregarious nature is reflected in his art. As an autistic artist, Peter draws inspiration from his day-to-day life experiences and current events, including floods, fires, travels through Europe, the covid pandemic, and observations of human behaviour. Through his vibrant and expressive paintings, Peter communicates and processes his thoughts and emotions, often incorporating writing and phrases as part of his creative process.
For Peter, painting is a powerful medium to convey his distinctive perspective on the world. Growing up, he learned to write before he spoke, and now his art speaks volumes. His works have been recognised by art galleries around the world, including London’s Museum of Everything, which purchased 13 of his paintings in 2011. Peter’s paintings have been exhibited in galleries in New York, London, Washington DC, and extensively throughout Australia.
Let Peter's art transport you to a place of wonder and imagination, where you can view the world through the eyes of this unique and talented artist.
